American West Metals Limited (American West or the Company) (ASX: AW1) is pleased to announce exciting results from the first diamond drill hole completed as part of the Company’s inaugural 7,500m drilling program at the West Desert Project in Utah (WestDesertor the Project).


  • The first diamond drill hole by AW1 has been successfully completed at the West Desert Project, Utah
  • Very thick intervals of visual zinc, copper and lead mineralisation have been logged in drill hole WD22-01
  • Ten major intervals of mineralisation totalling 288m have been identified in the drillcore
  • Two new zones of mineralisation outside the historical resource have been discovered, highlighting the strong expansion potential of WestDesert
  • Assays have been submitted to the laboratory and arepending
  • Second drill hole is currently underway testing for high-grade zinc, copper, gold and molybdenum below WD22-01

Drill hole WD22-01 was designed to test the continuity of high-grade mineralisation in a key section of the historical West Desert deposit.

A total of 288m of zinc, copper, lead and molybdenite mineralisation has been visually identified in the drill core. The mineralisation is distributed through ten major intervals and provides a positive indication of the continuity of the historical resource and its development potential. The mineralisation shows visual similarities to that encountered in historical drill holes.

The drill hole has also intersected two new zones of mineralisation south of/underneath the Deep Zone and outside of the current resource.
