Until recently, she worked for world leader in the lithium industry Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (NYSE:SQM, Santiago Stock Exchange: SQM-A, SQM-B) for 23 years, based in Santiago, Chile. During Claudia’s time at SQM, she held numerous senior leadership roles including overseeing lithium planning and studies and brings significant lithium project evaluation and operational experience whilst joining the Board at a critical juncture in Galan’s journey to becoming a significant South American lithium producer.

Since leaving SQM in late 2021, Claudia has been Managing Partner and General Manager of Chilean based Ad-Infinitum, a process engineering consultancy, with specific focus on lithium brine projects under study and development, and the associated project evaluations. Claudia will be remunerated in line with the existing Non-Executive Directors.

Mr Chris Chalwell, a founding Galan Non-Executive Director since February 2011, has done a mountain of work in building the Company and helping to get it into the strong position that it is in today. He has decided to retire as a Galan director on 31 May 2023 to align with his personal future endeavours. The Board wishes to sincerely thank Chris for his outstanding leadership and significant contribution to the Board and the Company over a number of years.

Commenting on the appointment, Galan’s Chairman, Mr Richard Homsany said:

“It is a great achievement for Galan to attract a person of the calibre of Ms. Claudia Pohl to its Board. She brings substantial, broad lithium brine experience to the table and has a real desire to make a positive difference. Claudia joins the Galan Board at a significant time on our way to becoming a producer and will bring a new and exciting perspective to the team. On behalf of the Board, I would also like to sincerely acknowledge and thank Mr Chris Chalwell for the significant and valued contribution he has made to the Board and the Company over more than a decade. He has helped build and grow the Company to achieve the successful position it enjoys today. We warmly wish Chris all the very best in his future endeavours.”

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Pohl said:

“I am truly honoured to be joining the Galan Board and at such an exciting point in Galan’s journey from early explorer to a pre-development future producer. I have watched Galan’s progress closely over the last several years and the Hombre Muerto resource that Galan has proved up, is truly world class and the envy of many in the industry. I look forward to joining my past SQM colleague Daniel Jimenez as well as Richard, JP and Terry in leading Galan towards becoming the next major lithium producer in South America.”
